A Brief Introduction to the Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation

Zhejiang Province is near by the big city Shanghai. Situated in the Southeast of China and adjoined to East Sea,The capital city is Hangzhou.a beautiful city which is famous for the Westlake and her natural scenery. There are 11 cities in Zhejiang Province.

Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation (ZPDPF) was established in 1988. ZPDPF representing the common interests of the disabled persons, safeguarding  their lawful rights, carrying out all kinds of business and activities to directly serve disabled persons, It serves the administrative function in the way of developing and managing the disabled business entrusted by the government and functions as the common body of the representative of the disabled people, social welfare body and civil service administration organ.

There are five public institution directly subordinated to ZPDPF.Zhejiang Provincial Huaqiang Vocational School(You have visited)、Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Person’s Rehabilitation Guidance Center、Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Employment Centre、Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Foreign Exchange Centre and Zhejiang Provincial Special Art Instruction Centre(Zhejiang Disabled persons performing art troupe).

 An umbrella organizational system of disabled persons from central level to grassroots level was formed up. In Zhejiang province, besides ZPDPF, 11 cities, 88 counties、Districts level established the disabled persons federations. Local government gives the officials’ salary. In meantime, under the leadership of ZPDPF, according to the disabled person’s own need, they established their special federation, such as the blind Federation, the deaf federation, the physical disabled federation and psychiatric-disabled relative federation.

Recent years, ZPDPF has been made a great progress and achievement in rehabilitation training, education employment, cultural life and full participation in the social life. The disabled persons’ conditions have distinct improvement. Over the ten years, ZPDPF maintain cooperation and exchange with more than 11 countries in the disabled field.

Zhejiang disabled persons’ performing art troupe has been to Japan、Malaysia、Singapore for Performing, and also been invited to the other provinces in China. They have been to Taiwan for twice. We organized a group of painters and calligraphist to Japan and Finland for many times.

According to The Zhejiang Provincial Second China National Sample Survey on Disability. it is estimated that there were 3.118 million (6.36 percent)all kinds of disabilities. The total is the numbers and proportions of persons with various disabilities are as follows: visual disability,0.423 million or 13.5 percent; hearing disability, 1.059 million or 33.9 percent; speech disability, 0.033 million or 1 percent; and physical disability, 0.706 million or 22.6 percent; mental retardation，0.199 million or 6 percent; mental disability, 0.262 million or 8 percent; and multiple disabilities, 0.436 million or 13.9 percent.

A Brief Introduction to the Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ International Exchange Center

Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ International Exchange Center is affiliated to Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation. It is mainly responsible the foreign exchange, project cooperation, consultation services etc in the Disabled Persons Federation system. It takes go- aboard and a series of foreign affairs and distinguished reception.

 Recently years. Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ International Exchange Center with the support and help of Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation. The international exchange work has change from simple culture arts and sports activities to broaden the exchange of vocational training, foreign investment and charity donation. The scope of exchanges have gradually expanded to Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Germany, France, Norway, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Egypt, and other countries and regions.
